An Oakland DUI never goes through Alameda County’s traffic department: the court sends DUI and every other adult misdemeanor or felony to its Criminal Division. The SR-22 that follows is filed with DMV, not with the court.
Oakland’s two criminal courthouses
The Alameda County Superior Court lists two Oakland buildings among its criminal court locations, the René C. Davidson Courthouse and the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse. Wiley W. Manuel, at 661 Washington Street, is also an Oakland traffic court location with same-day walk-in traffic court on the second Thursday of each month, and it is the court named on the CHP Oakland Area’s own page.
That CHP office, at 3601 Telegraph Avenue near the junction of SR-24 and I-580, serves Oakland, Berkeley, Piedmont, Emeryville, Albany, El Cerrito, San Pablo, El Sobrante and Richmond, and it handles correctable citations without an appointment.
